Abstract
A content providing server provides virtual reality content. The content providing server includes a requesting unit configured to receive a request for virtual reality content from a user device; a dynamic object image processing unit configured to render an image of a dynamic object contained in the virtual reality content; a static object image processing unit configured to render an image of a static object contained in the virtual reality content; and a streaming unit configured to separately stream the image of the dynamic object and the image of the static object to the user device.
Claims18
A content providing server that provides three-dimensional (3D) virtual reality content, comprising:
- a requesting unit configured to receive a request for 3D virtual reality content from a user device;
- a dynamic object image processing unit configured to render a 3D image of a dynamic object contained in the 3D virtual reality content;
- a static object image processing unit configured to render a 3D image of a static object contained in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the static object includes a background or a space contained in the 3D virtual reality content in which data of the static object is not changed in a flow of the 3D virtual reality content, and
- wherein the static object image processing unit is configured to derive a depthmap from an image taken based on a user location in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the depthmap is a distance value for 3D data corresponding to each pixel in the image based on the user location in the 3D virtual reality content;
- and
- a streaming unit configured to separately stream the 3D rendered image of the dynamic object and the 3D rendered image of the static object to the user device,
- wherein the streaming unit is configured to only stream the 3D rendered image of the static object to the user device when a predetermined event causes the 3D image of the static object in the 3D virtual reality content to be updated.
A user device that provides three-dimensional (3D) virtual reality content, comprising:
- a requesting unit configured to request 3D virtual reality content to a content providing server;
- a dynamic object image receiving unit configured to receive a 3D image of a dynamic object contained in the 3D virtual reality content;
- a static object image receiving unit configured to receive a 3D image of a static object contained in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the static object includes a background or a space contained in the 3D virtual reality content in which data of the static object is not changed in a flow of the 3D virtual reality content, and
- wherein the static object image receiving unit is configured to receive a depthmap from an image taken based on a user location in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the depthmap is a distance value for 3D data corresponding to each pixel in the image based on the user location in the 3D virtual reality content;
- and
- an output unit configured to output the 3D image of the static object and the 3D image of the dynamic object by using at least one mesh,
- wherein the dynamic object image receiving unit and the static object image receiving unit are further configured to receive a stream of the 3D image of the dynamic object and a stream of the 3D image of the static object, respectively, from the content providing server, and
- the static object image receiving unit is further configured to only receive a stream of the 3D image of the static object from the content providing server when a predetermined event causes the static object in the 3D virtual reality content to be updated, and the 3D image of the static object is output on the at least one mesh to which the depthmap has been applied.
A user device that provides three-dimensional (3D) virtual reality content, comprising:
- a requesting unit configured to request 3D virtual reality content to a content providing server;
- a dynamic object image receiving unit configured to receive a 3D image of a dynamic object contained in the 3D virtual reality content;
- a static object image receiving unit configured to receive a 3D image of a static object contained in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the static object includes a background or a space contained in the 3D virtual reality content in which data of the static object is not changed in a flow of the 3D virtual reality content;
- and
- an output unit configured to output the 3D image of the static object and the 3D image of the dynamic object by using at least one mesh,
- wherein the dynamic object image receiving unit and the static object image receiving unit are further configured to receive a stream of the 3D image of the dynamic object and a stream of the 3D image of the static object, respectively, from the content providing server, and
- the static object image receiving unit is further configured to only receive a stream of the 3D image of the static object from the content providing server depending on whether or not a predetermined event for the static object occurs in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the static object image receiving unit is further configured to receive a stream of a depthmap derived from an image taken based on a location of a user in the virtual reality content, and
- wherein the output unit is further configured to:
- output the 3D image of the dynamic object on a first mesh;
- and
- output the 3D image of the static object on a second mesh to which the depthmap has been applied,
- wherein
- the first mesh is located inside the second mesh, and
- the first mesh is a spherical or cubic mesh and the second mesh is a deformed mesh.
A method for providing three-dimensional (3D) virtual reality content, comprising:
- receiving a request for 3D virtual reality content from a user device;
- rendering a 3D image of a dynamic object contained in the 3D virtual reality content;
- rendering a 3D image of a static object contained in the 3D virtual reality content,
- wherein the static object includes a background or a space contained in the 3D virtual reality content in which data of the static object is not changed in a flow of the 3D virtual reality content;
