Analytics for processing information system data

A method for use in information system monitoring, comprising:

• obtaining system data generated by one or more platforms and transmitted over at least one communications network;
• extracting features from said system data, said features corresponding to a model implemented by an analytics module, wherein said extracting features includes converting non-numeric portions of said system data to numeric data in relation to a defined set of dimensions that support particular analytics of particular use cases;
• operating said analytics module to apply said model to said system data so as to identify an event of interest;
• and
• providing output information concerning said event of interest.

A method for use in network monitoring and information management, comprising:

• identifying a use case with respect to processing system data, said system data comprising data generated by one or more platforms and transmitted over at least one communications network;
• selecting one or more machine-learning algorithms applicable to one or more objectives of said use case;
• obtaining a set of system data amendable to processing using said one or more machine-learning algorithms, wherein said obtaining includes converting non-numeric portions of said system data to numeric data in relation to a defined set of dimensions that support said selected machine-learning algorithms;
• and
• processing said set of system data using said one or more algorithms to provide output information related to one or more of said objectives of said use case.

An apparatus for use in network monitoring and information management, comprising:

• an input module for obtaining system data generated by one or more platforms and transmitted over at least one communications network;
• a feature extraction module for extracting features from said system data, said features corresponding to a subspace model implemented by a machine-learning process, wherein said feature extraction module is operative for converting non-numeric portions of said system data to numeric data in relation to a defined set of dimensions that support said machine-learning process;
• a processing module for operating said machine-learning process to apply said subspace model to said system data so as to identify an event of interest;
• and
• an output module for providing output information concerning said event of interest.
