Antenna design with structurally integrated composite antenna components

An electronic device comprising:

• a mechanical frame including one or more housing components configured to house electronic components, the one or more housing components comprising a raised housing region that extends from a rear surface of the electronic device and divides, at least in part, two coplanar housing components of the one or more housing components;
• and
• a composite antenna, the composite antenna including at least one set of co-located antenna patches forming two resonance frequencies, the set of co-located antenna patches disposed within the raised housing region, the set of co-located antenna patches including:
• one or more upper patches, the one or more upper patches formed integral to one of the housing components and each of the one or more upper patches operably connected to one or more electrical grounds;
• and
• one or more lower patches, the one or more lower patches positioned proximately beneath each of the one or more upper patches, and wherein each of the one or more lower patches are operably connected to the one or more electrical grounds and each of the one or more upper patches through the one or more feedlines.
