Abstract
Among other things, techniques are described for forecasting occupancy of a vehicle location. This includes receiving, by at least one processor, status information of a parking location the status information representing an availability of the parking location; predicting, by the at least one processor, a future status of the parking location based on the received status information; determining, by the at least one processor, a destination based on the predicted future status of the parking location; and providing, by the at least one processor, the predicted future status to a controller of a vehicle for controlling the vehicle to drive to the destination.
Claims29
A method comprising:
- receiving, by at least one processor, status information of a parking location for a vehicle, the status information representing an availability of the parking;
- probabilistically predicting, by the at least one processor and using a machine learning system, a future status of the parking location or a parking zone associated with the parking location at a time when the vehicle is predicted to arrive at the parking location or the parking zone based on the received status information;
- determining, by the at least one processor, a destination for the vehicle based on the predicted future status of the parking location or the parking zone, wherein determining the destination of the vehicle comprises:
- requesting authorization from a passenger or an awaiting passenger to change an original destination for the vehicle to the destination for the vehicle,
- overriding a denial of the requested authorization from the passenger or awaiting passenger based on additional status information of the parking location, and
- changing the original destination for the vehicle to the destination for the vehicle based on the overridden denial;
- and
- transmitting, by the at least one processor, the predicted future status of the parking location or the parking zone and the destination to a controller of the vehicle for controlling the vehicle to drive to the destination.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising at least one program for execution by at least one processor of a first device, the at least one program including instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the first device to perform operations comprising:
- receiving status information of a parking location for a vehicle, the status information representing an availability of the parking location;
- probabilistically predicting, using a machine learning system, a future status of the parking location or a parking zone associated with the parking location at a time when the vehicle is predicted to arrive at the parking location or the parking zone based on the received status information;
- determining a destination for the vehicle based on the predicted future status of the parking location or the parking zone, wherein determining the destination of the vehicle comprises:
- requesting authorization from a passenger or an awaiting passenger to change an original destination for the vehicle to the destination for the vehicle,
- overriding a denial of the requested authorization from the passenger or awaiting passenger based on additional status information of the parking location, and
- changing the original destination for the vehicle to the destination for the vehicle based on the overridden denial;
- and
- transmitting the predicted future status of the parking location or the parking zone and the destination to a controller of the vehicle for controlling the vehicle to drive to the destination.
A first vehicle, comprising:
- at least one computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions;
- at least one processor configured to execute the computer executable instructions, the execution carrying out operations including:
- receiving status information of a parking location from a server or a second vehicle;
- predicting a future status of the parking location or a parking zone associated with the parking location at a time when the first vehicle is predicted to arrive at the parking location or the parking zone based on the received status information;
- determining a destination of the first vehicle based on the predicted future status of the parking location or the parking zone, wherein determining the destination of the first vehicle comprises:
- requesting authorization from a passenger or an awaiting passenger to change an original destination of the first vehicle to the destination of the first vehicle,
- overriding a denial of the requested authorization from the passenger or awaiting passenger based on additional status information of the parking location, and
- changing the original destination of the first vehicle to the destination of the first vehicle based on the overridden denial;
- and
- a controller for controlling the first vehicle to drive to the destination based on the predicted future status of the parking location or the parking zone.
