Abstract
A method at a computing device in an intelligent transportation system for reconfiguring a road segment, the method including receiving a request from a second computing device associated with a vehicle to change a configuration for the road segment; determining a road segment configuration; and reconfiguring the road segment based on the determined road segment configuration.
Claims18
A method at a controller in an intelligent transportation system, the method comprising:
- receiving at least one message at the controller, the at least one message containing information regarding a location of a vehicle and a destination for the vehicle;
- calculating, at the controller, a route for the vehicle, finding that the route for the vehicle includes reversing a direction of travel for of at least one road segment;
- and
- sending a communication to one or more vehicles approaching the at least one road segment, through V2X communication, the communication indicating that the direction of travel for the at least one road segment is reversed and a time period during which the direction of travel for the at least one road segment will be reversed, the one or more vehicles being distinct from the vehicle.
A controller in an intelligent transportation system, the controller comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a communications subsystem,
- wherein the controller is configured to:
- receive at least one message at the controller, the at least one message containing information regarding a location of a vehicle and a destination for the vehicle;
- calculate a route for the vehicle, find that the route for the vehicle includes reversing a direction of travel for of at least one road segment;
- and
- send a communication to one or more vehicles approaching the at least one road segment, through V2X communication, the communication indicating that the direction of travel for the at least one road segment is reversed and a time period during which the direction of travel for the at least one road segment will be reversed, the one or more vehicles being distinct from the vehicle.
A non-transitory computer readable medium for storing instruction code, which, when executed by a processor of a controller in an intelligent transportation system cause the controller to:
- receive at least one message at the controller, the at least one message containing information regarding a location of a vehicle and a destination for the vehicle;
- calculate a route for the vehicle, find that the route for the vehicle includes reversing a direction of travel for of at least one road segment;
- and
- send a communication to one or more vehicles approaching the at least one road segment, through V2X communication, the communication indicating that the direction of travel for the at least one road segment is reversed and a time period during which the direction of travel for the at least one road segment will be reversed, the one or more vehicles being distinct from the vehicle.
