System and method for managing loyalty program accounts

A method of managing loyalty program accounts, the method executed by a device and comprising:

• providing, from a device, access to a loyalty wallet application;
• locally storing loyalty account information for a plurality of loyalty accounts in the loyalty wallet application;
• integrating a loyalty tracking application, operable from the device, with at least one transaction channel accessed via the device;
• receiving a device location indicative of a client device being proximate to a loyalty provider associated with the plurality of loyalty accounts;
• receiving transaction data via the at least one transaction channel;
• detecting, from the transaction data, the locally stored loyalty account information, and the device location, that a transaction is potentially eligible for a loyalty reward associated with the loyalty account that is itself associated with the proximate loyalty provider;
• in response to determining that the at least one transaction channel is not eligible for the loyalty reward, preventing the client device from completing the transaction with the proximate loyalty provider via the at least one channel;
• generating a new transaction by modifying the transaction, the new transaction redirecting the transaction to a different transaction channel and using loyalty account information from the locally store loyalty account information that is eligible to obtain the loyalty reward;
• generating a prompt to obtain confirmation for the new transaction, enabling use of the new transaction in place of the transaction;
• and
• in response to detecting confirmation of the prompt, enabling the new transaction to be completed with the different transaction channel to obtain the loyalty reward.

A non-transitory computer readable medium for managing loyalty program accounts, the computer readable medium comprising computer executable instructions for:

• providing, from a device, access to a loyalty wallet application;
• locally storing loyalty account information for a plurality of loyalty accounts in the loyalty wallet application;
• integrating a loyalty tracking application, operable from the device, with at least one transaction channel accessed via the device;
• receiving a device location indicative of a client device being proximate to a loyalty provider associated with the plurality of loyalty accounts;
• receiving transaction data via the at least one transaction channel;
• detecting, from the transaction data, the locally stored loyalty account information, and the device location, that a transaction is potentially eligible for a loyalty reward associated with the loyalty account that is itself associated with the proximate loyalty provider;
• in response to determining that the at least one transaction channel is not eligible for the loyalty reward, preventing the client device from completing the transaction with the proximate loyalty provider via the at least one channel;
• generating a new transaction by modifying the transaction, the new transaction redirecting the transaction to a different transaction channel and using loyalty account information from the locally store loyalty account information that is eligible to obtain the loyalty reward;
• generating a prompt to obtain confirmation for the new transaction, enabling use of the new transaction in place of the transaction;
• and
• in response to detecting confirmation of the prompt, enabling the new transaction to be completed with the different transaction channel to obtain the loyalty reward.
