Network communications

Apparatus for use in the provision of targeted content data in a telecommunications network, the telecommunications network comprising a service provider network operated by a service provider responsible for providing telecommunications services to a plurality of subscribers, the service provider network comprising a subscriber profile database containing subscriber profile data specific to each subscriber, the apparatus comprising at least one physical processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code being configured to, with the at least one physical processor, cause the apparatus at least to, at an entity in the service provider network:

• receive an indication that a trigger event has occurred;
• perform a lookup in the subscriber profile database to identify subscriber profile data for at least a given subscriber corresponding to the indicated trigger event, wherein performing the lookup comprises:
• comparing at least one trigger event attribute identifying one or more characteristics associated with the given subscriber, corresponding to the trigger event to at least one subscriber profile attribute corresponding to the given subscriber;
• and
• determining, in response to the comparison, a match between the trigger event and the given subscriber, whereby to identify the given subscriber's profile data;
• retrieve, from the subscriber profile database, an identifier for each of one or more of the given subscriber's client devices, the identifier relating corresponding to a type or capability of one or more subscriber client devices;
• generate targeted content data at least corresponding to at least one or more of the retrieved identifiers, and
• initiate delivery of targeted content data corresponding to the indicated trigger event to the subscriber client devices corresponding to the at least one or more of the retrieved identifiers by modifying at least one of a browser session request and a browser session response in an ongoing browser session conducted by each of the subscriber client devices,
• wherein the computer program code is configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to, in relation to an ongoing browser session and at the entity:
• receive, from one of the subscriber client devices, a browser session request;
• transmit the browser session request to a server entity located outside the service provider network;
• receive, from the server entity, a browser session response corresponding to the transmitted browser session request;
• and
• transmit the browser session response to said one of the subscriber client devices.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer readable instructions stored thereon, the computer readable instructions being executable by a computerized device to cause the computerized device to perform a method for use in the provision of targeted content data in a telecommunications network, the telecommunications network comprising a service provider network operated by a service provider responsible for providing telecommunications services to a plurality of subscribers, the service provider network comprising a subscriber profile database containing subscriber profile data specific to each subscriber, the method comprising, at an entity in the service provider network:

• receiving an indication that a trigger event has occurred;
• performing a lookup in the subscriber profile database to identify subscriber profile data for at least a given subscriber corresponding to the indicated trigger event, wherein performing the lookup comprises:
• comparing at least one trigger event attribute identifying one or more characteristics associated with the given subscriber, corresponding to the trigger event to at least one subscriber profile attribute corresponding to the given subscriber;
• and
• determining, in response to the comparison, a match between the trigger event and the given subscriber, whereby to identify the given subscriber's profile data;
• retrieving, from the subscriber profile database, an identifier for each of one or more of the given subscriber's client devices, the identifier corresponding to a type or capability of the one or more subscriber client devices;
• generating targeted content data at least corresponding to at least one or more of the retrieved identifiers, and
• initiating delivery of targeted content data corresponding to the indicated trigger event to the subscriber client devices corresponding to the at least one or more of the retrieved identifiers by modifying at least one of a browser session request and a browser session response in an ongoing browser session conducted by each of the subscriber client devices,
• wherein an ongoing browser session comprises, at the entity:
• receiving, from one of the subscriber client devices, a browser session request;
• transmitting the browser session request to a server entity located outside the service provider network;
• receiving, from the server entity, a browser session response corresponding to the transmitted browser session request;
• and
• transmitting the browser session response to the said one of subscriber client devices.
