Abstract
A system that incorporates aspects of the subject disclosure may perform operations including, for example, obtaining uplink information associated with a plurality of communication devices transmitting wireless signals on a plurality of uplink paths, performing, based on the uplink information, a plurality of measurements of the plurality of uplink paths, identifying a measurement from the plurality of measurements that is below a threshold, and initiating a corrective action to improve a measurement of an affected uplink path of the plurality of uplink paths based on the identifying. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A method comprising:
- estimating, by a system comprising a processor, a plurality of thermal noise energy levels for each of a plurality of signal paths of a wireless communication system, resulting in an estimated thermal noise energy for each of the plurality of signal paths;
- adjusting, by the system and for at least a portion of the plurality of signal paths, the estimated thermal noise energy, resulting in a plurality of adjusted thermal noise energy levels;
- determining, by the system and based on the plurality of adjusted thermal noise energy levels, an average thermal noise level for the plurality of signal paths;
- determining, by the system and based on the average thermal noise level, an intercell interference threshold for the plurality of signal paths;
- scanning, by the system, signals on one or more of the plurality of signal paths, resulting in a plurality of scanned signals;
- and
- responsive to a scanned signal on a signal path exceeding the intercell interference threshold:
- measuring, by the system, a signal level, a noise level and an interference level for the signal path, wherein the noise level includes the average thermal noise level;
- determining, by the system and based on the measuring, a signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) for the signal path;
- and
- responsive to the signal path having a SINR below a predetermined threshold, initiating, by the system, a corrective action to improve the SINR on the signal path.
A device comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- estimating a plurality of thermal noise energy levels for each of a plurality of signal paths, resulting in an estimated thermal noise energy for each of the plurality of signal paths;
- adjusting, for at least one of the plurality of signal paths, the estimated thermal noise energy, resulting in an at least one adjusted thermal noise energy level;
- determining, based on the at least one adjusted thermal noise energy level, an average thermal noise level for the plurality of signal paths;
- determining, based on the average thermal noise level, an intercell interference threshold for the plurality of signal paths;
- scanning signals on one or more of the plurality of signal paths, resulting in a plurality of scanned signals;
- and
- responsive to a scanned signal on a signal path exceeding the intercell interference threshold:
- measuring a signal level, a noise level and an interference level for the signal path, wherein the noise level includes the average thermal noise level;
- determining, based on the measuring, a signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) for the signal path;
- and
- responsive to the signal path having a SINR below a predetermined threshold, initiating an action to improve the SINR on the signal path.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- estimating, a plurality of thermal noise energy levels for each of a plurality of signal paths, resulting in an estimated thermal noise energy for each of the plurality of signal paths;
- adjusting, for at least a portion of the plurality of signal paths, the estimated thermal noise energy, resulting in a plurality of adjusted thermal noise energy levels;
- determining, based on the plurality of adjusted thermal noise energy levels, an average thermal noise level for the plurality of signal paths;
- determining, based on the average thermal noise level, an intercell interference threshold for the plurality of signal paths;
- scanning at least one signal on one or more of the plurality of signal paths, resulting in an at least one scanned signal;
- and
- responsive to a scanned signal included in the at least one scanned signal exceeding the intercell interference threshold:
- measuring a signal level, a noise level and an interference level for a signal path associated with the scanned signal, wherein the noise level includes the average thermal noise level;
- determining, based on the measuring, a signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) for the signal path;
- comparing the SINR for the signal path to a predetermined threshold;
- determining, based on the comparing, that the SINR for the signal path is less than the predetermined threshold;
- and
- responsive to the determining that the SINR for the signal path is less than the predetermined threshold, initiating an action to improve the SINR on the signal path.
