Abstract
The technologies described and recited herein pertain to a permanent magnet motor having multiple voltage taps so that the motor may run in multiple configurations, e.g., a low-range and a high-range, and have multiple optimal operating points.
Claims5
A method of controlling a compressor to control the cooling of a heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) system, the method comprising:
- controlling an operating mode of the HVACR system by:
- controlling speed of rotation of a rotor corresponding to a permanent magnet motor that is optimized for different operating points as a cooler and as a heater by switching between wye-delta connections corresponding to one of a high-range voltage path and a first speed to implement an operating mode of the HVACR system or a low-range voltage path and a second speed to implement another operating mode of the HVACR system for a variable frequency drive (VFD),
- wherein the first speed is lower than the second speed.
