Abstract
A solid state ionic conductive electrolyte membrane may include a garnet-like structure oxide material. A solid state ionic conductive electrolyte membrane may include a multi-channel porous support structure and a solid state ionic conductive electrolyte in the multi-channel porous support structure. Systems and methods for selectively extracting alkaline metals include the solid state ionic conductive electrolyte membrane.
Claims18
A method for selectively extracting alkaline metals, the method comprising:
- passing a first solution comprising a concentration of alkaline ions into a first plurality of channels of a multi-channel porous support structure, the multi-channel porous support structure defining a porous wall structure separating the first plurality of channels from a second plurality of channels;
- selectively passing the alkaline ions from the first solution positioned within the first plurality of channels of the multi-channel porous support structure through a solid state ionic conductive electrolyte positioned within pores of the porous wall structure of the multi-channel porous support structure to a second solution positioned within the second plurality of channels of the multi-channel porous support structure;
- and
- extracting the alkaline ions passed through the solid state ionic conductive electrolyte from the second solution.
