Abstract
Embodiments described herein provide an integrated holographic reconstruction platform that enables a user to perform three-dimensional visualization of a phenomenon by reconstructing holograms using a combination of normalization and propagation algorithms, which yields better results with significantly less demanding processing time and computing resources. Specifically, the integrated holographic reconstruction platform may be implemented as an all-in-one computer software that includes software components of digital holographic reconstruction, de-twinning and optical distortion removal via a user-friendly graphical interface.
Claims20
A method for reconstructing an image of an object from a hologram of the object, the method comprising:
- obtaining, via a user interface, a target hologram of an object and a selection of a reference beam hologram;
- receiving, via the user interface, one or more reconstruction parameters configured by a user, wherein the one or more reconstruction parameters include a normalization type,
- wherein the normalization type includes a subtraction division plus mean (SDPM) procedure including subtracting the reference beam hologram from the target hologram and dividing a result from the subtraction by the reference beam hologram plus a mean value of the reference beam hologram;
- configuring a de-twinning setting that includes iteratively updating a complex-valued wavefront in a detector plane during reconstruction;
- and
- reconstructing an image of the object from the target hologram and the reference beam hologram according to the one or more reconstruction parameters and the de-twinning setting.
A system for reconstructing an image of an object from a hologram of the object, the system comprising:
- a user interface that receives a first uploading of a testing hologram of a testing pattern, a second uploading of a target hologram of an object and a selection of a reference beam hologram, and one or more reconstruction parameters including a normalization type configured by a user;
- a memory that stores a plurality of processor-executable instructions for image reconstruction from holograms;
- and
- one or more processors that execute the plurality of processor-executable instructions to perform operations comprising:
- reconstructing a testing image from the testing hologram according to the one or more reconstruction parameters, wherein the normalization type includes a subtraction division plus mean (SDPM) procedure including subtracting the reference beam hologram from the target hologram and dividing a result from the subtraction by the reference beam hologram plus a mean value of the reference beam hologram;
- iteratively re-generating the testing image while adjusting a propagation depth parameter until the testing pattern on the testing image comes within a focus threshold;
- and
- reconstructing an undistorted image of the object from the target hologram and the reference beam hologram according to the one or more reconstruction parameters including the adjusted propagation depth parameter.
A non-transitory processor-readable storage medium storing a plurality of processor-executable instructions for reconstructing an image of an object from a hologram of the object, the instructions being executable by a processor to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, via a user interface, one or more reconstruction parameters configured by a user;
- calibrating the one or more reconstruction parameters with a testing hologram until a resulting testing image comes within a focus threshold;
- obtaining, via a user interface, a target hologram of an object and a selection of a reference beam hologram;
- and
- reconstructing the image of the object from the target hologram and the reference beam hologram according to the one or more calibrated reconstruction parameters and a de-twinning setting that suppresses a virtual image in reconstruction wherein the one or more reconstruction parameters includes a subtraction division plus mean (SDPM) procedure conducted by:
- subtracting the reference beam hologram from the target hologram;
- and
- dividing a result from the subtraction by the reference beam hologram plus a mean value of the reference beam hologram.
