Systems and methods for routing network messages

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions for directing retry requests for content from a network, which when executed by at least one processor of the network, cause the at least one processor to:

• receive, from multiple computing devices, multiple application programming interface (API) requests to the network for content;
• calculate, at one or more regular time intervals, i) a number of expected API requests, for an upcoming interval, based in a time series forecasting model and time series data indicative of historical API requests to the network and ii) an interval to retry the API requests based on multiple conditions of the network, the multiple conditions of the network including a predefined rate limit of API requests for the network and the number of expected API requests for the upcoming interval;
• determine ones of the multiple API requests exceed a predefined rate limit of API requests for the network;
• in response to ones of the multiple API requests not exceeding the predefined rate limit, retrieve the content identified in said ones of the multiple API requests and transmit the content to the multiple computing devices, respectively;
• and
• in response to determining that the ones of the multiple API requests exceed the predefined rate limit:
• generate a failure notice for each of the ones of the API requests that exceed the predefined rate limit and append the interval to retry to a header of each of the failure notices;
• and
• transmit the failure notices to the multiple computing devices, respectively, thereby indicating to the multiple computing devices to retry the API requests based on the interval to retry.
