Abstract
Methods and systems for modifying tissue use a pressurized fluid stream carrying coherent light energy. The methods and systems may be used for resecting and debulking soft and hard biological tissues. The coherent light is focused within a stream of fluid to deliver energy to the tissue to be treated.
Claims15
A system for delivering laser energy to tissue, said system comprising:
- a sheath;
- a shaft within the sheath;
- a tube within the shaft, the tube comprising a waveguide for transmitting the laser energy to the tissue;
- and
- motors and control circuitry operatively coupled to the shaft, tube and sheath for controlling movements of the shaft, the tube and the sheath relative to each other.
