Congruent bidirectional segment routing tunnels

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon for programming a device to perform steps of:

• creating a first label stack for a first tunnel in a Segment Routing network;
• and
• creating a second label stack for a second tunnel in the Segment Routing network where the second tunnel is congruent with the first tunnel in an opposite direction, wherein the second label stack is created based on inverting the first label stack and congruency is based on determining next hop forwarding for prefix Segment Identifiers (SIDs) at each Label Switch Router utilizing a master/slave determination that ensures each Label Switch Router calculates a next hop from a same direction for both the first tunnel and the second tunnel.

An apparatus comprising:

• a processor and memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to
• create a first label stack for a first tunnel in a Segment Routing network, and
• create a second label stack for a second tunnel in the Segment Routing network where the second tunnel is congruent with the first tunnel in an opposite direction, wherein the second label stack is created based on inverting the first label stack and congruency is based on determining next hop forwarding for prefix Segment Identifiers (SIDs) at each Label Switch Router utilizing a master/slave determination that ensures each Label Switch Router calculates a next hop from a same direction for both the first tunnel and the second tunnel.
