Abstract
Multiplexers are disclosed. A multiplexer can include a first filter and a second filter that are coupled to a common node. The second filter can include a first type of acoustic wave resonators (e.g., bulk acoustic wave resonators) and a series acoustic wave resonator of a second type (e.g., a surface acoustic wave resonator) that is coupled between the acoustic wave resonators of the first type and the common node. The first filter can provide a single-ended radio frequency signal. In certain embodiments, the first filter can be a receive filter and the second filter can be a transmit filter.
Claims20
A filter assembly comprising:
- a transmit filter having an output coupled to a common node, the transmit filter including a first stage serially connected with at least a second stage, the first stage including a first plurality of acoustic wave resonators of a first type, the second stage including a second plurality of acoustic wave resonators of a second type but not the first type, the second plurality of acoustic wave resonators having a higher suppression of a second harmonic of a radio frequency signal than the first plurality of acoustic wave resonators;
- and
- a receive filter having an input coupled to the common node, the receive filter configured to provide a single-ended radio frequency signal output.
A method of processing a radio frequency signal, the method comprising:
- generating a filtered transmit radio frequency signal with transmit filter having a first stage serially connected with at least a second stage, the first stage including a first plurality of acoustic wave resonators of a first type, the second stage including a second plurality of acoustic wave resonators of a second type that is different than the first type, the second plurality of acoustic wave resonators having a higher suppression of a second harmonic of a radio frequency signal than the first plurality of acoustic wave resonators;
- outputting the filtered transmit radio signal to a common node;
- and
- filtering a receive radio frequency signal with a receive filter coupled to the common node to output a single-ended radio frequency signal.
