A staple instrument system comprising a cartridge body and an antenna is disclosed.

A surgical instrument, comprising:
- a housing;
- a shaft extending from said housing;
- a controller comprising a processor;
- an end effector, comprising:
- a jaw comprising a metal wall antenna;
- and
- an antenna circuit mounted to said metal wall antenna, wherein said antenna circuit is in communication with said processor,
- wherein said end effector comprises a mask to control a radio signal emitted by the end effector.
