Abstract
The present invention relates to the use of a lubricating composition comprising: —at least one base oil; and—at least one monoester which is separate from the base oil and formed between a linear, saturated or unsaturated C8-C14 monocarboxylic acid, and a branched, saturated or unsaturated C4-C16 monoalcohol to reduce the fuel consumption of a vehicle fitted with a transmission member, in particular a gearbox and/or an axle, which is lubricated by means of said composition.
Claims16
A method for reducing the fuel consumption of a vehicle equipped with a transmission component, the method comprising lubricating the transmission component using a lubricating composition comprising:
- a base oil;
- and
- a monoester that is different from the base oil and that is formed by reacting a linear, saturated C10-C12 monocarboxylic acid with a branched, saturated C7-C10 monoalcohol,
- wherein:
- the lubricating composition comprises 30% by weight or less of the monoester, relative to the total weight of the lubricating composition;
- and
- the kinematic viscosity of a total amount of base oil included in the lubricating composition, measured at 100° C. in accordance with the standard ASTM D445, ranges from 2 mm2/s to 15 mm2/s.
