Abstract
Volumetric resistance blowers are disclosed herein. An example volumetric resistance blower includes a housing, a motor, and a rotor disposed within the housing and rotated by the motor. The rotor is constructed of metal foam.
Claims20
An electronic device comprising:
- an enclosure;
- processor circuitry carried by the enclosure;
- and
- a blower to dissipate heat from the enclosure, the blower including:
- a carrier plate having a first side and a second side opposite the first side;
- a motor to drive the carrier plate;
- a post carried by the carrier plate;
- and
- a rotor carried by the carrier plate, the rotor including foam material, the rotor defining an opening to receive the post to couple the rotor to the carrier plate.

An electronic device comprising:
- an enclosure;
- means for generating heat, the heat generating means in the enclosure;
- and
- a blower at least partially in the enclosure to reduce a temperature inside the enclosure, the blower including:
- a housing;
- a rotor in the housing, the rotor having a first porosity that decreases in a first axial direction from an intermediate region to a top side of the rotor, the rotor having a second porosity that decreases in a second axial direction opposite the first axial direction from the intermediate region to a bottom side of the rotor;
- and
- a motor to drive the rotor.
