Abstract
An applicator is disclosed for applying a treatment solution to a treatment site of a patient. The applicator can include an applicator housing comprising a treatment solution reservoir. A cartridge can be removably disposed in the housing. The cartridge when arranged in the housing can be in fluid communication with the treatment solution reservoir. The cartridge can include an electrostatic module for electrostatically charging the treatment solution in the treatment solution reservoir; and a nozzle for applying the treatment solution.
Claims16
A method for applying electrically spun fibers to a site of interest, the method comprising:
- loading a cartridge into a cartridge receiving chamber of an applicator housing wherein the cartridge comprises a natural or synthetic polymer and an elongate tubular member;
- electrospinning, by a motor in the applicator housing directly driving the elongate tubular member of the cartridge, the natural or synthetic polymer in the cartridge thereby generating electrically spun fibers of the polymer;
- and
- delivering, by a nozzle of the cartridge, the electrically spun fibers out of the cartridge to the site of interest.
A method for applying electrically spun fibers to a site of interest, the method comprising:
- loading a cartridge into a cartridge receiving chamber of an applicator housing wherein the cartridge comprises a natural or synthetic polymer and an elongate tubular member;
- processing data about current working conditions of the cartridge, the current working conditions comprising one or more of nozzle settings of the cartridge, end-user information, polymer solution flow rate, polymer levels and polymer properties;
- electrospinning, by a motor in the applicator housing driving the elongate tubular member of the cartridge, the natural or synthetic polymer in the cartridge thereby generating electrically spun fibers of the polymer;
- and
- delivering, by a nozzle of the cartridge, the electrically spun fibers out of the cartridge to the site of interest.
A method for applying an electrospun fiber to a treatment site, the method comprising:
- loading a cartridge into a cartridge receiving chamber of an applicator housing, wherein the cartridge comprises an elongate tubular member and an electrospinning medium in a storage tank of the cartridge;
- pressurizing the electrospinning medium inside the cartridge by a force generated by a motor and piston thereby generating an electrospun fiber;
- and
- delivering, by a nozzle of the cartridge, the electrospun fiber out of the cartridge to the treatment site.
