Harvesting system including modular units

A modular unit for attachment to a harvester, comprising:

• a shipping container;
• a drying unit housed within the shipping container to dry a harvested material introduced into the harvester, the drying unit including:
• at least one rotating drum;
• a number of appendages extending from the at least one rotating drum;
• at least one sensor to determine at least one environmental state within the drying unit;
• and
• at least one environmental state adjustment device to adjust at least one environmental attribute within the drying unit;
• and
• a collection unit housed within the shipping container to collect the harvested material into a unit;
• a first conveyor mechanism housed within the shipping container to convey the harvested material from the drying unit to the collection unit;
• a control system to control at least the drying unit, the collection unit, the first conveyor mechanism, the sensor, and the environmental state adjustment device based on a signal received from the at least one sensor;
• and
• at least one module coupling device to selectively mechanically couple and decouple the modular unit to the harvester, the module coupling device comprising a twistlock system.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing executable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of at least one control system to control at least one function of a modular unit coupled to a harvester, the modular unit comprising a shipping container, the executable instructions causing the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• instructing at least one sensor to detect at least one environmental state within a drying unit containing a harvested material;
• activating an environmental state adjustment device to adjust the at least one environmental state within the drying unit;
• and
• determining that the harvested material is ready for collection by a collection unit based on the at least one environmental state detected within the drying unit.
