Electrically operated aerosol generation system

An aerosol generation system for generation of an aerosol from an aerosol-forming precursor, the system comprising:

• an electrically operated heating system to heat said precursor to generate the aerosol;
• a flow path for transmission of flow, including the aerosol, to a user, the heating system arranged in fluid communication with the flow path;
• and
• electrical circuitry configured to
• apply a predetermined amount of electrical energy over a first time period to allow an electrical current flowing through the heating system to stabilise to obtain a stabilised current flow, and
• after the first time period, measure the stabilised current flow and determine a property related to the flow of the flow path based on a measured fluctuation in the stabilised electrical current flowing through the heating system, wherein the property related to the flow is related to one of a quantity of the flow, a rate of the flow, a duration of an inhale, a start of the inhale, or an end of the inhale.
