Abstract
In the present invention, a user equipment (UE) receives an UL grant that can be used while the UE is not in RRC_CONNECTED state. If the UE receives a message indicating to leave RRC_CONNECTED state, the UE starts a time alignment timer (I-TAT) when the UE leaves RRC_CONNECTED state. The UE transmits UL data using the UL grant if the UL data becomes available for transmission when the UE is not in RRC_CONNECTED state and if the I-TAT is running.
Claims12
A method of transmitting, by a user equipment (UE), uplink (UL) signals in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- receiving, by the UE, a value for a time alignment timer (TAT) configured for a radio resource control (RRC) CONNECTED state;
- and
- starting, by the UE in the RRC_CONNECTED state, the TAT for the RRC_CONNECTED state;
- receiving, by the UE, (i) an UL grant prior to the UE entering a Radio Resource Control (RRC) INACTIVE state, wherein the UL grant is specifically configured for uplink data transmission by the UE while in the RRC_INACTIVE state and (ii) a value for a TAT configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state;
- based on the UE entering the RRC_INACTIVE state:
- i) considering all TATs used for the RRC_CONNECTED state as expired and clearing any UL grant configured for the RRC_CONNECTED state, and
- ii) starting the TAT configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state;
- performing, by the UE in the RRC_INACTIVE state, an UL data transmission including an identity of the UE using the UL grant configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state, without initiating a random access procedure, based on the TAT for the RRC_INACTIVE state being running;
- and
- releasing, by the UE in the RRC_INACTIVE state, the UL grant configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state, based on expiry of the TAT for the RRC_INACTIVE state.
A user equipment (UE) configured for transmitting uplink (UL) signals in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
- a radio frequency (RF) transceiver;
- a processor;
- and
- a memory storing at least one program that causes the processor to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, by the UE, a value for a time alignment timer (TAT) configured for a radio resource control (RRC) CONNECTED state;
- and
- starting, by the UE in the RRC_CONNECTED state, the TAT for the RRC_CONNECTED state;
- receiving, by the UE, (i) an UL grant prior to the UE entering a Radio Resource Control (RRC) INACTIVE state, wherein the UL grant is specifically configured for uplink data transmission by the UE while in the RRC_INACTIVE state and ii) a value for a TAT configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state;
- based on the UE entering the RRC_INACTIVE state:
- i) considering all TATs used for the RRC_CONNECTED state as expired, and clearing any UL grant configured for the RRC_CONNECTED state, and
- ii) starting the TAT configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state;
- performing, by the UE in the RRC_INACTIVE state, an UL data transmission including the identity of the UE using the UL grant configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state, without initiating a random access procedure, based on the TAT for the RRC_INACTIVE state being running;
- and
- releasing, by the UE in the RRC_INACTIVE state, the UL grant configured for the RRC_INACTIVE state, based on expiry of the TAT for the RRC_INACTIVE state.
