Abstract
A system and method for providing zone-specific media to a user. As a non-limiting example, various aspects of this disclosure provide a system and method that flexibly selects and provides media content (e.g., audio content), where such content is selected based, at least in part, on a user location (e.g., location within a premises).
Claims6
A wireless speaker comprising:
- a loudspeaker;
- a wireless communication interface configured to communicate with a wireless network that is in communication with one or more additional wireless speakers;
- a processor;
- and
- computer-readable memory in communication with the processor, the memory configured to store information that identifies a type of room that is associated with the wireless speaker, the memory storing instructions that are executable by the processor to cause the wireless speaker to:
- transmit via the wireless communication interface an audio content request that includes the information that identifies the type of room that is associated with the wireless speaker;
- in response to the audio content request, receive via the wireless communication interface audio content that is based at least in part on the type of room associated with the wireless speaker;
- and
- output the received audio content using the loudspeaker.
