Method, apparatus and computer program product for metadata search in a group-based communication platform

A system associated with a communication platform, the system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• computer readable media storing instructions that, when executed, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from a first user device associated with a channel corresponding to the communication platform, a message comprising a channel identifier associated with the channel that is accessible by a first set of users of the communication platform and that is inaccessible to a second set of users of the communication platform;
• storing the message in a database based at least in part on the channel identifier;
• receiving, from a second user device associated with the channel, an indication of a graphical reaction to the message;
• associating the indication of the graphical reaction to the message in the database;
• receiving, from a third user device associated with the communication platform, a search query comprising the graphical reaction;
• and
• generating, based at least in part on the indication of the graphical reaction, a response to the search query, the response comprising the message.

One or more non-transitory computer readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a computing device associated with a communication platform, cause the computing device to perform operations comprising:

• receiving, from a first user device associated with the communication platform, a message comprising a first user identifier associated with the first user device;
• storing the message in a database based at least in part on the first user identifier;
• receiving, from a second user device associated with the communication platform, an indication of a graphical reaction to the message and a second user identifier associated with the second user device;
• associating the indication of the graphical reaction and the second user identifier to the message in the database;
• receiving, from a third user device associated with the communication platform, a search query comprising a request for graphical reactions associated with the second user identifier;
• and
• generating, based at least in part on the second user identifier, a response to the search query comprising the message and the indication of the graphical reaction.
