Communication system and method for high-reliability low-latency wireless connectivity in mobility application

A communication system, comprising:

• a first edge device that comprises:
• a processor configured to:
• obtain a primary wireless connectivity option from a central cloud server for a first upcoming location along a first travel path to be traversed by the first edge device;
• obtain a set of alternative wireless connectivity options from the central cloud server for the first upcoming location along the first travel path as well as one or more other upcoming locations along the first travel path, wherein each of the set of alternative wireless connectivity options comprises a different specific initial access information;
• and
• select one or more alternative wireless connectivity options from the set of alternative wireless connectivity options at the first upcoming location and the one or more other upcoming locations along the first travel path when the primary wireless connectivity option fails or when a cellular connectivity of the first edge device to a first base station via the primary wireless connectivity option of the first edge device in motion is about to become less than a threshold performance value, wherein the selected one or more alternative wireless connectivity options causes the first edge device to bypass an initial access-search at the first edge device and maintain the cellular connectivity with at least one of a plurality of base stations.

A method for high-speed low-latency wireless connectivity, the method comprising:

• in a central cloud server that comprises a connectivity enhanced database and a processor:
• predicting, by the processor, a first travel path of a first edge device in motion, wherein the first edge device is communicatively coupled to a first base station via a primary wireless connectivity option;
• determining, by the processor, a set of alternative wireless connectivity options to be made available to the first edge device in motion in advance for the predicted first travel path based on the connectivity enhanced database and the predicted first travel path, wherein each of the set of alternative wireless connectivity options comprises a different specific initial access information;
• and
• pre-loading, by the processor, the determined set of alternative wireless connectivity options at the first edge device to cause the first edge device to maintain a cellular connectivity with at least one of a plurality of base stations along the first travel path, wherein one or more alternative wireless connectivity options from the set of alternative wireless connectivity options are configured to be triggered along the predicted first travel path bypassing an initial access-search at the first edge device.
