Abstract
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a position determination entity (PDE) receives a request to schedule an on-demand PRS positioning session of a UE at a future time, wherein the request is configured to request a first set of parameters for the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session, with an availability of one or more parameters of the first set of parameters at the future time being indeterminable when the request is received. PDE determines the availability of the one or more parameters at the future time. PDE determines a PRS configuration for the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session in advance of the future time.

A method of operating a network component, comprising:
- receiving, from a position estimation entity, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration for a scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of a user equipment (UE) associated with a request,
- wherein the request is configured to request the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of the UE at a future time,
- wherein the request is configured to request a first set of parameters for the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session, with an availability of one or more parameters of the first set of parameters at the future time being indeterminable when the request is communicated,
- wherein the PRS configuration is received in advance of the future time, and
- wherein the PRS configuration includes a second set of parameters that is based at least in part on the availability of the one or more parameters at the future time;
- and
- performing one or more PRS-related actions associated with the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session based on the PRS configuration.
A network component, comprising:
- a memory;
- at least one transceiver;
- and
- at least one processor communicatively coupled to the memory and the at least one transceiver, the at least one processor configured to:
- receive, via the at least one transceiver, from a position estimation entity, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration for a scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of a user equipment (UE) associated with a request,
- wherein the request is configured to request the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of the UE at a future time,
- wherein the request is configured to request a first set of parameters for the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session, with an availability of one or more parameters of the first set of parameters at the future time being indeterminable when the request is communicated,
- wherein the PRS configuration is received in advance of the future time, and
- wherein the PRS configuration includes a second set of parameters that is based at least in part on the availability of the one or more parameters at the future time;
- and
- perform one or more PRS-related actions associated with the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session based on the PRS configuration.
A network component, comprising:
- means for receiving, from a position estimation entity, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration for a scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of a user equipment (UE) associated with a request,
- wherein the request is configured to request the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of the UE at a future time,
- wherein the request is configured to request a first set of parameters for the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session, with an availability of one or more parameters of the first set of parameters at the future time being indeterminable when the request is communicated,
- wherein the PRS configuration is received in advance of the future time, and
- wherein the PRS configuration includes a second set of parameters that is based at least in part on the availability of the one or more parameters at the future time;
- and
- means for performing one or more PRS-related actions associated with the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session based on the PRS configuration.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a network component, cause the network component to:
- receive, from a position estimation entity, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration for a scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of a user equipment (UE) associated with a request,
- wherein the request is configured to request the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session of the UE at a future time,
- wherein the request is configured to request a first set of parameters for the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session, with an availability of one or more parameters of the first set of parameters at the future time being indeterminable when the request is communicated,
- wherein the PRS configuration is received in advance of the future time, and
- wherein the PRS configuration includes a second set of parameters that is based at least in part on the availability of the one or more parameters at the future time;
- and
- perform one or more PRS-related actions associated with the scheduled on-demand PRS positioning session based on the PRS configuration.
