Abstract
There are described herein methods and system for generating an inspection image of an object from radiographic imaging. The method comprises obtaining a plurality of digital images of the object positioned between a radiation source and a photon beam detector, the digital images taken at different object-detector distances or source-detector distances to create unique grain diffraction patterns in each one of the digital images, and forming the inspection image from image features common to the digital images at a common scale and removing the unique grain diffraction patterns.

A method for forming an inspection image of an object from radiographic imaging, the method comprising:
- obtaining a first digital images of the object using radiographic imaging, the first digital image having a feature of the object at a first scale, the first digital image having a first grain diffraction pattern at the first scale;
- obtaining a second digital image of the object using radiographic imaging, the second digital image having the feature of the object at a second scale, the second digital image having a second grain diffraction pattern at the second scale, the second scale being different from the first scale, the second grain diffraction pattern being different from the first grain diffraction pattern;
- and
- forming the inspection image including scaling the feature of the object in one or more of the digital images to a common scale, the common scale being common to both the first digital image and the second digital image after said scaling, and removing grain differences between the first grain diffraction pattern and the second grain diffraction pattern at the common scale.
A system for forming an inspection image of an object from radiographic imaging, the system comprising:
- a processing unit;
- and
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon program instructions executable by the processing unit for:
- obtaining a first digital images of the object using radiographic imaging, the first digital images having a feature of the object at a first scale, the first digital image having a first grain diffraction patterns at the first scale;
- obtaining a second digital image of the object using radiographic imaging, the second digital image having the feature of the object at a second scale, the second digital image having a second grain diffraction pattern at the second scale, the second scale being different from the first scale, the second grain diffraction pattern being different from the first grain diffraction pattern;
- and
- forming the inspection image including scaling the features of the object in one or more of the digital images to a common scale, the common scale being common to both the first digital image and the second digital image after said scaling, and removing grain differences between the first grain diffraction pattern and the second grain diffraction pattern at the common scale.
A method for inspecting an object from radiographic imaging, the method comprising:
- acquiring a first digital image of the object using radiographic imaging, the first digital image having a feature of the object at a first scale, the first digital image having a first grain diffraction pattern at the first scale;
- acquiring a second digital image of the object using radiographic imaging, the second digital image having the feature of the object at a second scale, the second digital image having a second grain diffraction pattern at the second scale, the second scale being different from the first scale, the second grain diffraction pattern being different from the first grain diffraction pattern;
- scaling the feature of the object in one or more of the digital images to a common scale, the common scale being common to both the first digital image and the second digital image after said scaling;
- forming an inspection image from the feature of the object common to the digital images at the common scale, and without grain differences between the first grain diffraction pattern and the second grain diffraction pattern at the common scale;
- and
- inspecting the object using the inspection image.
