Abstract
A tamper evident closure includes a first snap, a cover, a tear strip connected to the cover, and a second snap connected to the tear strip. In a closed position, a cavity of the cover is configured to be placed over the first snap, and the second snap is configured to be placed in and engaged with a cavity in the first snap. In a closed position, there is a gap between the first snap and the cover.
Claims20
A tamper evident container comprising:
- a first container portion having at least one first snap formed between a pair of generally planar first tabs;
- a second container portion in the form of a cover;
- a tamper evident closure that comprises:
- a tear strip connected to the second container portion and formed between a pair of generally planar second tabs;
- and
- a second snap connected to the tear strip;
- wherein when the tamper evident closure is in a closed position, the second snap is configured to be placed in and engaged with the at least one first snap;
- wherein the tear strip and the pair of second tabs lie in a plane that is parallel to a plane of the pair of first tabs when the tamper evident closure is in the closed position.

A tamper evident container positionable between an open position and a closed position, the container comprising:
- a cover having a rim;
- a base having a rim;
- a hinge extending between and coupled to the cover and the base;
- a tamper evident closure opposite the hinge, the tamper evident closure comprises:
- a snap cover formed to a portion of the cover of the tamper evident container;
- a tear strip coupled to a portion of the snap cover by a perforated line;
- a pair of generally planar first tabs formed to a portion of the cover, wherein the tear strip is positioned between the pair of generally planar first tabs;
- a first snap formed to a portion of the base and configured to be positioned in the snap cover;
- and
- a second snap coupled to the tear strip and configured to be positioned in the first snap;
- a pair of generally planar second tabs formed to a portion of the base, wherein the first snap is positioned between the pair of generally planar second tabs;
- wherein the tear strip and the pair of generally planar first tabs lie in a plane that is parallel to a plane of the pair of generally planar second tabs when the tamper evident closure is in the closed position;
- wherein disruption of the perforated line evidences tampering of the tamper evident container.
