Abstract
Example vehicle security systems and methods are described. In one implementation, a method receives a destination and a driving route to the destination for an autonomous vehicle to follow. A vehicle security system identifies a passkey associated with the driving route and communicates the passkey to a user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle at the destination. The vehicle security system confirms that the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle possesses the passkey.

- receiving, by a vehicle security system and from a first user, a destination and a driving route to the destination for an autonomous vehicle to follow while transporting a passenger, the passenger requiring guardianship upon arriving at the destination;
- identifying, by the vehicle security system, a passkey associated with the driving route;
- communicating the passkey to a user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle at the destination;
- confirming, by the vehicle security system, that the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle possesses the passkey;
- and
- unlocking doors of the autonomous vehicle at the destination responsive to confirming that the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle possesses the passkey and is at the destination in order to allow the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle to take custody of the passenger.

An apparatus comprising:
- a communication manager configured to receive, from an adult user, a destination and a driving route to the destination for an autonomous vehicle to follow with a child passenger, the child passenger requiring guardianship upon arriving at the destination;
- a passkey manager configured to identify a passkey associated with the driving route, wherein the communication manager is further configured to communicate the passkey to a user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle at the destination, and wherein the passkey manager is further configured to confirm that the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle at the destination possesses the passkey and is at the destination;
- and
- a vehicle lock manager configured to unlock doors of the autonomous vehicle responsive to the passkey manager confirming that the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle at the destination possesses the passkey and is at the destination in order to allow the user designated to meet the autonomous vehicle to take custody of the child passenger.
