A novel maize variety designated X85P966 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X85P966 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X85P966 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X85P966, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X85P966 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X85P966 and methods of using maize variety X85P966 are disclosed.
A seed of hybrid maize variety X85P966, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH48C4 with a second plant of variety PH4DPN, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH48C4 and PH4DPN have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004026 and 202205103, respectively.
A seed of hybrid maize variety X85P966 further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the single locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH48C4 with a second plant of variety PH4DPN, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the single locus conversion, and wherein representative seed of the varieties PH48C4 and PH4DPN have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004026 and 202205103, respectively.
A method for producing a hybrid maize variety X85P966 seed further comprising a locus conversion, the method comprising crossing a first plant of variety PH48C4 with a second plant of variety PH4DPN, representative seed of the varieties PH48C4 and PH4DPN having been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004026 and 202205103, respectively, wherein at least one of the varieties PH48C4 and PH4DPN further comprises the locus conversion.
