Abstract
A novel canola variety designated NS8048 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a canola plant that comprise crossing canola variety NS8048 with another canola plant. Methods for producing a canola plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into NS8048 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the canola seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid canola seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the canola variety NS8048 or a locus conversion of NS8048 with another canola variety.
Claims20
A seed, plant, plant part or plant cell of canola variety NS8048, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under NCMA accession number 202108112.
A converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell of inbred canola variety NS8048, representative seed of the canola variety NS8048 having been deposited under NCMA accession number 202108112, wherein the converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell comprises a locus conversion, and wherein the plant or a plant grown from the converted seed, plant part or plant cell comprises the locus conversion and otherwise comprises all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of canola variety NS8048 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
An F1 hybrid seed produced by crossing a plant or plant part of inbred canola variety NS8048, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under NCMA accession number 202108112 with a different Brassica plant, wherein inbred canola variety NS8048 further comprises a transgene that is inherited by the seed, wherein the transgene was introduced into inbred canola variety NS8048 by backcrossing or genetic transformation.
