Abstract
A first user device can receive a communication certificate associated with a user of the first user device. The communication certificate can allow the first user device to exchange certain information with a second user device that also possesses the communication certificate. The first user device can receive a notification. The first user device can also determine that a second user device associated with the user did not receive the notification. The first user device can initiate a direct connection with the second user device. The first use device can verify that the second device possesses the communication certificate. After verification, the first user device can send the notification to the second user device.
Claims20
A method for peer-to-peer notification exchange, comprising:
- sending a communication certificate from a server to each of a first user device and a second user device, wherein the first and second user devices are associated with a user;
- receiving a notification at the server, the notification being associated with the user;
- determining that the second user device is offline;
- sending, from the server to the first user device, the notification and an indication that the second user device is offline, wherein the first user device is configured to:
- determine that the second user device is authorized to receive the notification by verifying the communication certificate;
- and
- send the notification to the second user device through a direct connection;
- and
- receiving, at the server, confirmation from the first user device that the notification was delivered to the second user device.
A non-transitory, computer-readable medium containing instructions that, when executed by a hardware-based processor, cause the processor to perform stages for peer-to-peer notification exchange, the stages comprising:
- sending a communication certificate from a server to each of a first user device and a second user device, wherein the first and second user devices are associated with a user;
- receiving a notification at the server, the notification being associated with the user;
- determining that the second user device is offline;
- sending, from the server to the first user device, the notification and an indication that the second user device is offline, wherein the first user device is configured to:
- determine that the second user device is authorized to receive the notification by verifying the communication certificate;
- and
- send the notification to the second user device through a direct connection;
- and
- receiving, at the server, confirmation from the first user device that the notification was delivered to the second user device.
A system for peer-to-peer notification exchange, comprising:
- a memory storage including a non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising instructions;
- and
- a computing device including a hardware-based processor that executes the instructions to carry out stages comprising:
- sending a communication certificate from the computing device to each of a first user device and a second user device, wherein the first and second user devices are associated with a user;
- receiving a notification at the computing device, the notification being associated with the user;
- determining that the second user device is offline;
- sending, from the computing device to the first user device, the notification and an indication that the second user device is offline, wherein the first user device is configured to:
- determine that the second user device is authorized to receive the notification by verifying the communication certificate;
- and
- send the notification to the second user device through a direct connection;
- and
- receiving, at the computing device, confirmation from the first user device that the notification was delivered to the second user device.
