System and method for automated communication with Air Traffic Control

A method for automated communication with an aircraft, comprising:

• receiving audio communication input from an air traffic controller (ATC) comprising a taxi route to take off at a runway, a route to land at a runway, or a change in altitude;
• converting the audio communication input into text input;
• detecting a tail number associated with an aircraft in the text input;
• parsing the text input when the tail number is associated with the aircraft;
• generating one or more data structures from the parsed input, the one or more data structures comprising-command data for controlling the aircraft;
• verifying whether the command data in the one or more data structures is valid;
• constructing a response sentence using the one or more data structures;
• transmitting the response sentence to the ATC,
• wherein the response sentence is selected from a confirmation of the taxi route to take off from the runway, confirmation of the route to land at the runway, and confirmation of the change in altitude when the command data is verified as valid;
• and
• wherein the response sentence is selected from an error message or a request for clarification when the command data is not verified as valid;
• transmitting the one or more data structures to an onboard flight computer of the aircraft when the command data is verified as valid;
• and
• storing the one or more data structures in a conversation memory.

An aircraft, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• memory, the memory storing instructions for executing a method, the method comprising:
• receiving audio communication input from an air traffic controller (ATC) comprising a taxi route to take off at a runway, a route to land at a runway, or a change in altitude;
• converting the audio communication input into text input;
• detecting a tail number associated with an aircraft in the text input;
• parsing the text input when the tail number is associated with the aircraft;
• generating one or more data structures from the parsed input, the one or more data structures comprising-command data for controlling the aircraft;
• verifying whether the command data in the one or more data structures is valid;
• constructing a response sentence using the one or more data structures;
• transmitting the response sentence to the ATC,
• wherein the response sentence is selected from a confirmation of the taxi route to take off from the runway, confirmation of the route to land at the runway, and confirmation of the change in altitude when the command data is verified as valid;
• and
• wherein the response sentence is selected from an error message or a request for clarification when the command data is not verified as valid;
• transmitting the one or more data structures to an onboard flight computer of the aircraft when the command data is verified as valid;
• and
• storing the one or more data structures in a conversation memory.
