Abstract
Described herein are systems, methods, and software to enhance the management of virtual nodes in a computing environment. In one example, a system is configured to mount storage repositories to a host. Once mounted the system may identify a request to initiate a virtual cluster on the host and may identify permissions associated with the virtual cluster. The system further determines at least one storage repository from the storage repositories for the virtual cluster based on the permissions and initiate execution of the virtual cluster with access to at least one file system corresponding to the at least one storage repository.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- mounting, in a host system comprising a hardware processor, a plurality of storage repositories;
- identifying a request to initiate a plurality of virtual clusters on the host system, wherein a first virtual cluster comprises multiple containers and a second virtual cluster comprises one or more containers, wherein the multiple containers of the first virtual cluster and the one or more containers of the second virtual cluster share resources of an operating system of the host system;
- identifying, by the host system, first permissions allocated to the first virtual cluster and second permissions allocated to the second virtual cluster;
- determining, by the host system, at least a first storage repository from the plurality of storage repositories for the first virtual cluster based on the first permissions, and determining, by the host system, at least a second storage repository from the plurality of storage repositories for the second virtual cluster based on the second permissions;
- and
- based on the determining, initiating, by the host system, execution of the multiple containers of the first virtual cluster in the host system in which applications executing in the multiple containers have access to at least one file system corresponding to at least the first storage repository, and initiating, by the host system, execution of the one or more containers of the second virtual cluster in the host system in which one or more applications executing in the one or more containers have access to at least one file system corresponding to at least the second storage repository.
A computing apparatus comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a non-transitory storage medium comprising program instructions executable on the processor to:
- mount a plurality of storage repositories to a host;
- identify a request to initiate a plurality of virtual clusters on the host, wherein a first virtual cluster comprises multiple containers and a second virtual cluster comprises one or more containers, wherein the multiple containers of the first virtual cluster and the one or more containers of the second virtual cluster share resources of an operating system of the host;
- identify first permissions allocated to the first virtual cluster and second permissions allocated to the second virtual cluster;
- determine at least a first storage repository from the plurality of storage repositories for the first virtual cluster based on the first permissions, and determine at least a second storage repository from the plurality of storage repositories for the second virtual cluster based on the second permissions;
- and
- based on the determining, initiate execution of the multiple containers of the first virtual cluster in the host in which applications executing in the multiple containers have access to at least one file system corresponding to at least the first storage repository, and initiate execution of the one or more containers of the second virtual cluster in the host in which one or more applications executing in the one or more containers have access to at least one file system corresponding to at least the second storage repository.
A non-transitory storage medium comprising instructions that upon execution cause a system to:
- mount a plurality of storage repositories to a host;
- receive a request to initiate a plurality of virtual clusters on the host, wherein a first virtual cluster comprises multiple containers and a second virtual cluster comprises one or more containers, wherein the multiple containers of the first virtual cluster and the one or more containers of the second virtual cluster share resources of an operating system of the host;
- in response to the request, identify first permissions allocated to the first virtual cluster and second permissions allocated to the second virtual cluster;
- determine at least a first storage repository from the plurality of storage repositories for the first virtual cluster based on the first permissions, and determine at least a second storage repository from the plurality of storage repositories for the second virtual cluster based on the second permissions;
- and
- based on the determining, initiate execution of the multiple containers of the first virtual cluster in the host in which applications executing in the multiple containers have access to at least one file system corresponding to at least the first storage repository, and initiate execution of the one or more containers of the second virtual cluster in the host in which one or more applications executing in the one or more containers have access to at least one file system corresponding to at least the second storage repository.
