Abstract
A method of generating fabrication parameters for fabrication of a part is disclosed. The method comprises receiving from a computer device a 3D file representing the part to be fabricated. A three-dimensional model stored in the three-dimensional model file is converted to manufacturing instructions. The three-dimensional model includes the geometrical layout of the part, and the three-dimensional model includes mesh surface data. A cost as well as a time associated with the manufacturing of the part are generated. The cost and time to manufacture the part are outputted to a customer device. A system for generating fabrication parameters for fabrication of a part is also disclosed.
Claims18
A method for generating parameters for fabrication of a part, the method comprising:
- receiving, from a computer device, a three-dimensional model file representing a part to be fabricated;
- converting, by the computing device, a three-dimensional model stored in the three-dimensional model file to manufacturing instructions, wherein the three-dimensional model comprises a geometrical layout of the part, and wherein the three-dimensional model includes mesh surface data;
- generating, by the computer device, a cost for fabrication of the part to be fabricated as a function of the manufacturing instructions;
- generating, by the computer device, a time for fabrication of the part to be fabricated as a function of the manufacturing instructions;
- and
- outputting, by the computer device, the cost and time for fabrication to a customer device;
- inputting a plurality of mechanical requirements as a function of a use of a part;
- selecting a candidate orientation as a function of the plurality of mechanical requirements;
- determining the cost for fabrication score as a function of the difficulty of printing a part using a machine-learning model, wherein the machine-learning model inputs the candidate orientation and outputs the score;
- selecting the candidate orientation comprising the lowest score;
- outputting the selected candidate orientation to a user client device.
A system for generating parameters for fabrication of a part, the system comprising a computing device configured to:
- receive a three-dimensional model file representing a part to be fabricated;
- convert a three-dimensional model stored in the three-dimensional model file to manufacturing instructions, wherein the three-dimensional model comprises a geometrical layout of the part, and wherein the three-dimensional model includes mesh surface data;
- generate a cost for fabrication of the part to be fabricated as a function of the manufacturing instructions;
- generate a time for fabrication of the part to be fabricated as a function of the manufacturing instructions;
- and
- output the cost and time for fabrication to a customer device;
- input a plurality of mechanical requirements as a function of a use of a part;
- select a candidate orientation as a function of the plurality of mechanical requirements;
- determine the cost for fabrication score as a function of the difficulty of printing a part using a machine-learning model, wherein the machine-learning model inputs the candidate orientation and outputs the score;
- select the candidate orientation comprising the lowest score;
- output the selected candidate orientation to a user client device.
