Abstract
Disclosed is a technique that can provide one or more countermeasures against spoofers. A direction from which a spoofing attack occurs is identified. A beamformer can control an antenna pattern of a CRPA to null out signals from that direction, which can assist a GNSS receiver to avoid error induced by the spoofing attack. Further, after two or more observations, the location of the spoofer can be identified.
Claims29
A global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver comprising:
- one or more low noise amplifiers configured to amplify radio frequency (RF) signals from antenna elements of a controlled reception pattern antenna (CRPA),
- one or more downconvertors configured to down convert RF signals, and
- a processor,
- the GNSS receiver configured:
- to cause a beamformer to generate and steer a main lobe of the CRPA to survey a plurality of directions in space;
- to enable a determination to be made that a spoofer exists in the surveyed space when signals appearing to be associated with two or more space vehicles of a global navigation satellite system are higher in signal power along a particular beam direction relative to other directions;
- and
- to cause, at least in part, the beamformer to generate and steer a null to suppress signals emanating from the spoofer.
5 more elements
An electronically-implemented method, the method comprising:
- determining, using a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver, that a spoofer exists along a particular beam direction of controlled reception pattern antenna (CRPA) lobe, steered by a beamformer, in a surveyed space at least partly in response to:
- determining that signals appearing to be associated with a plurality of space vehicles of a global navigation satellite system are higher in signal power along the particular beam direction relative to other directions;
- and
- causing, at least in part a beamformer, to reduce interfering signals from the spoofer by at least:
- causing a null of an antenna pattern to be steered along the particular beam direction.
