Abstract
A method and apparatus are disclosed which enable the analysis of a break in a vehicle glazing panel without the attendance of a technician, the method and apparatus utilize capturing an image of the break and processing the image of the break to enable the suitability for repair or replacement of the glazing panel to be determined.
Claims20
A break analysis method for analysing breaks in a vehicle glazing panel, the method comprising:
- capturing an image of a break in a vehicle glazing panel using a mobile computing device having a camera;
- processing the image of the break;
- wherein in processing the image of the break, one or more of:
- i) geometric parameters of the mobile computing device;
- and,
- ii) lens parameters of the camera;
- are used to estimate the size of the break.

An apparatus for analysing breaks in a vehicle glazing panel, the apparatus comprising:
- a mobile computing device comprising a camera arranged to capture an image of a break in a vehicle glazing panel;
- a processing module operative to process the image of the break;
- wherein in processing the image of the break, one or more of:
- i) geometric parameters of the mobile computing device;
- and,
- ii) lens parameters of the camera;
- are used to estimate the size of the break.
