Abstract
An actuator for controlling a flow regulation device. The actuator includes a drive device coupled to the flow regulation device and a motor coupled to the drive device and operable to move the drive device. The actuator further includes a processing circuit configured to receive a first measurement of a characteristic, control the actuator to reposition the flow regulation device in a first direction, receive a second measurement of the characteristic, determine an installation error associated with at least one of the actuator and the flow regulation device based on the first measurement and the second measurement.
Claims20
An actuator for controlling a flow regulation device, the actuator comprising:
- a drive device coupled to the flow regulation device;
- a motor coupled to the drive device and operable to move the drive device;
- and
- a processing circuit configured to:
- transmit commissioning data;
- receive a first measurement of a characteristic after transmitting the commissioning data;
- control the actuator to reposition the flow regulation device in a first direction;
- receive a second measurement of the characteristic after repositioning the flow regulation device in the first direction;
- determine an installation error detection event associated with at least one of the actuator or the flow regulation device based on the first measurement and the second measurement;
- transmit, after determining the installation error detection event, a set of stored operational data obtained over a time period, the time period including the installation error detection event;
- and
- perform, after determining the installation error detection event, a corrective action on the actuator based upon the installation error;
- wherein the characteristic is a temperature and a pressure.
An actuator for controlling a flow regulation device, the actuator comprising:
- a drive device coupled to the flow regulation device, the drive device operable between a first position and a second position, the first position associated with an open position of the flow regulation device, and
- the second position associated with a closed position of the flow regulation device;
- a motor coupled to the drive device and operable to move the drive device;
- and
- a processing circuit configured to:
- determine a third position of the drive device between the first position and the second position;
- determine a power consumption of the motor;
- identify an installation error for the drive device at the third position based on the third position and the power consumption, the installation error associated with at least one of the actuator or the flow regulation device;
- automatically transmit a message to a remote device based on identifying the installation error;
- and
- perform a corrective action to affect a behavior of the actuator based upon the installation error.
A method of operating an actuator in a flow regulation system, the method comprising:
- transmitting, by a processing circuit of the actuator, commissioning data;
- receiving, by the processing circuit, a first temperature measurement of a fluid after receiving the commissioning data;
- receiving, by the processing circuit, a first pressure measurement of the fluid after receiving the commissioning data;
- controlling, by the processing circuit, the actuator to reposition a flow regulation device after receiving the first temperature measurement and the first pressure measurement;
- receiving, by the processing circuit, a second temperature measurement of the fluid after controlling the actuator to reposition the flow regulation device;
- receiving, by the processing circuit, a second pressure measurement of the fluid after controlling the actuator to reposition the flow regulation device;
- identifying, by the processing circuit, an installation error detection event associated with at least one of the actuator or the flow regulation device based on at least one of:
- the first temperature measurement and the second temperature measurement;
- and
- the first pressure measurement and the second pressure measurement;
- modifying, by the processing circuit, a control program of the actuator based on identifying the installation error detection event;
- transmitting, by the processing circuit and after identifying the installation error detection event, a set of stored operational data obtained over a time period, the time period including the installation error detection event;
- and
- performing, by the processing circuit and after identifying the installation error detection event, a corrective action on the actuator based upon the installation error.
