Abstract
An electric drive hydraulic fracturing pump system includes one or more electric motors, with each electric motor electrically coupled to a dedicated dual inverter to control operation of the motor. A plurality of electric motors may be coupled to each end of a pump crankshaft and configured to provide rotational power to the power end of a hydraulic fracturing pump through a planetary gearset coupled to each end of the crankshaft. A hydraulic cooling circuit having a first and second cooling systems may be used to regulate the temperature of the electric motors and dual inverters.
Claims18
A hydraulic fracturing pump system comprising:
- a hydraulic fracturing pump having a pump crankshaft extending along a crankshaft axis and a pump crankcase with a first crankcase end and a second crankcase end, with the pump crankshaft extending between the first and second crankcase ends;
- a plurality of electric drive motors, each electric drive motor having a motor housing and a separate drive motor output shaft coupled to the pump crankshaft, each electric drive motor of the plurality of electric drive motors having a first cooling fluid inlet and a first cooling fluid outlet;
- a plurality of electric dual inverters, the plurality of electric dual inverters including a number of electric dual inverters corresponding to a number of electric drive motors in the plurality of electric drive motors, each electric dual inverter coupled to a separate one of the plurality of electric drive motors, each electric dual inverter of the plurality of electric dual inverters having a second cooling fluid inlet and a second cooling fluid outlet;
- a first cooling system having
- a first cooling fluid,
- a first fluid reservoir and
- a first fluid pump,
- all in fluid communication with the first cooling fluid inlet of each of the plurality of the electric drive motors;
- and
- a second cooling system having
- a second cooling fluid,
- a second fluid reservoir and
- a second fluid pump,
- all in fluid communication with the second cooling fluid inlet of each of the plurality of electric dual inverters.
