Abstract
The presently disclosed subject matter relates to nitric oxide-releasing particles for delivering nitric oxide, and their use in biomedical and pharmaceutical applications.
Claims36
A nitric oxide-releasing particle, the nitric oxide-releasing particle comprising a nitric oxide donor and a core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is prepared from a secondary amine of the core scaffold such that the nitric oxide donor is bound through the nitrogen atom of the secondary amine that is a pendant group of the core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is a pendant group of the core scaffold, and wherein the core scaffold comprises a dendritic network, wherein the dendritic network is hyperbranched and comprises a polypropylenimine dendrimer.
A pharmaceutical formulation comprising:
- (a) a nitric oxide-releasing particle comprising a nitric oxide donor and a core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is prepared from a secondary amine of the core scaffold such that the nitric oxide donor is bound through the nitrogen atom of the secondary amine that is a pendant group of the core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is a pendant group of the core scaffold, and wherein the core scaffold comprises a dendritic network, wherein the dendritic network is hyperbranched and comprises a polypropylenimine dendrimer;
- and
- (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A nitric oxide-releasing polymeric film comprising an organic polymer and a nitric oxide-releasing particle, said nitric oxide-releasing particle comprising a nitric oxide donor and a core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is prepared from a secondary amine of the core scaffold such that the nitric oxide donor is bound through the nitrogen atom of the secondary amine that is a pendant group of the core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is a pendant group of the core scaffold, and wherein the core scaffold comprises a dendritic network, wherein the dendritic network is hyperbranched and comprises a polypropylenimine dendrimer.
A medical device comprising a nitric oxide-releasing polymeric film, wherein the nitric oxide-releasing film comprises an organic polymer and a nitric oxide-releasing particle, the nitric oxide-releasing particle comprising a nitric oxide donor and a core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is prepared from a secondary amine of the core scaffold such that the nitric oxide donor is bound through the nitrogen atom of the secondary amine that is a pendant group of the core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide donor is a pendant group of the core scaffold, and wherein the core scaffold comprises a dendritic network, wherein the dendritic network is hyperbranched and comprises a polypropylenimine dendrimer.
A nitric oxide-releasing particle, the nitric oxide-releasing particle comprising:
- a core scaffold;
- a nitric oxide-releasing moiety, the nitric oxide-releasing moiety being associated with, or encapsulated by the core scaffold;
- wherein the nitric oxide-releasing moiety is prepared from a secondary amine of the core scaffold such that the nitric oxide-releasing moiety is bound through the nitrogen atom of the secondary amine that is a pendant group of the core scaffold, wherein the nitric oxide-releasing moiety is a pendant group of the core scaffold;
- and
- wherein the core scaffold comprises a dendritic network, wherein the dendritic network is hyperbranched and comprises a polypropylenimine dendrimer.
