Abstract
A linear jack includes an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve disposed at least partially within the outer sleeve, and an inner screw disposed at least partially within the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve is threadedly coupled to an outer diameter surface of the inner sleeve. The inner screw is threadedly coupled to an inner diameter surface of the inner sleeve. A thread pitch of the outer sleeve is greater than a thread pitch of the inner screw.
Claims13
A linear jack, comprising:
- an outer sleeve;
- an inner sleeve disposed at least partially within the outer sleeve;
- an inner screw disposed at least partially within the inner sleeve;
- and
- a shaft coupled to the inner screw, wherein rotation of the shaft is configured to drive rotation of the inner screw;
- wherein the outer sleeve is threadedly coupled to an outer diameter surface of the inner sleeve, the inner screw is threadedly coupled to an inner diameter surface of the inner sleeve, and a thread pitch of the outer sleeve is greater than a thread pitch of the inner screw
- wherein the inner sleeve is configured to translate with respect to the outer sleeve in response to rotation of the outer sleeve, and the inner screw is configured to translate with respect to the inner sleeve in response to rotation of the inner screw with respect to the inner sleeve.

A linear jack, comprising:
- an outer sleeve disposed at least partially around an inner sleeve, wherein the outer sleeve is threadedly coupled to the inner sleeve;
- an inner screw disposed at least partially within the inner sleeve, wherein the inner screw is threadedly coupled to the inner sleeve;
- and
- a shaft disposed at least partially within the inner screw, wherein rotation of the shaft is configured to drive rotation of the inner screw;
- wherein the outer sleeve is linearly translatable between a first position wherein the outer sleeve is drivably coupled with the shaft and a second position wherein the outer sleeve is disengaged from the shaft;
- wherein the shaft is coaxially aligned with the outer sleeve, the inner sleeve, and the inner screw;
- an outer tube having a centerline axis, the outer tube coaxial to the outer sleeve, wherein the outer sleeve is configured to translate along the centerline axis with respect to the outer tube between the first position and the second position,
- a spring operatively coupled to the outer sleeve, wherein the spring is configured to bias the outer sleeve towards the first position, and the outer sleeve is configured to move to the second position against a bias of the spring.
5 more elements
A method of manufacturing a linear jack, comprising:
- disposing an inner sleeve at least partially within an outer sleeve, wherein the outer sleeve is threadedly coupled to the inner sleeve;
- disposing an inner screw at least partially within the inner sleeve;
- and
- disposing a shaft to extend through at least a portion of the inner screw, wherein rotation of the shaft is configured to drive rotation of the inner screw;
- wherein the inner sleeve is threadedly coupled to the inner screw;
- wherein a thread pitch of the outer sleeve is greater than a thread pitch of the inner screw
- disposing a spring within an outer tube;
- disposing an outer tube gear within the outer tube;
- disposing the outer sleeve at least partially within the outer tube and in contact with the spring;
- and
- disposing the shaft to extend through at least the outer tube, the outer sleeve, and the inner sleeve.
