Abstract
A system and method for tagging, tracking, locating and identifying people and vehicles transporting people using Perfluorocarbon tracers. An on-going problem faced by military as well as law enforcement personnel is that of friendly fire incidents. To prevent possible friendly-fire incidents, troops would separate the two layers of the uniform patch, thereby releasing a controlled release of the Perfluorocarbon vapors. Other “friendly” troops, equipped with sensors tuned to the specific perfluorocarbon characteristics would thus be able to literally view a plume around the tagged person or object. The system may conversely be used to tag enemies. Formulations of mixed perfluorocarbons may be used to provide coding of emissions.
Claims18
A system for emitting a vapor into an environment, comprising:
- a first reservoir comprising a contained first liquid;
- a second reservoir comprising a contained second liquid;
- an automated dispenser, configured to dispense the first liquid from the first reservoir into the environment each as a vapor in a first time-coded plume, and the second liquid from the second reservoir into the environment as a vapor in a second time-coded plume,
- wherein the automated dispenser has at least one state in which neither the first time- coded plume nor the second time-coded plume is emitted;
- and
- an electronic control, configured to independently modulate the first time-coded plume and the second time-coded plume,
- wherein the automated control, is further configured to modulate the second time-coded plume independent of the first time-coded plume.
A system for emitting a plurality of different vapor into an environment according to a controlled pattern, comprising:
- a plurality of reservoirs comprising a first reservoir and a second reservoir, each comprising a different contained liquid comprising a first liquid and a second liquid;
- an automated dispenser, configured to separately selectively dispense the different contained liquids into the environment as a respective vapor in a respective time-coded plume, comprising a dispensing of first liquid from the first reservoir into the environment as a vapor in a first time-coded plume, and a dispensing of the second liquid from the second reservoir into the environment each as a vapor in a second time-coded plume, wherein the automated dispenser has at least one state in which no time-coded plume is emitted;
- and
- an automated control, configured to independently modulate the respective time-coded plume for each different contained liquid,
- wherein the automated control, is further configured to modulate the second time-coded plume independent of the first time-coded plume.
A method for emitting a vapor into an environment, comprising:
- providing a first reservoir comprising a contained first liquid;
- providing a second reservoir comprising a contained second liquid;
- dispense the first liquid from the reservoir into the environment as a vapor in a first time-coded plume from an automated dispenser, wherein the automated dispenser has at least one state in which the first time-coded plume is not emitted;
- dispense the second liquid from the reservoir into the environment as a vapor in a second time-coded plume from an automated dispenser, wherein the automated dispenser has at least one state in which the first time-coded plume is not emitted;
- and
- independently modulating the first time-coded plume and the second time-coded plume with an electronic control, wherein the electronic control provides at least one state in which neither the first time-coded plume nor the second time-coded plume is emitted,
- wherein the automated dispenser comprises a piezoelectric device.
