Abstract
Orthosis brace comprising reel-based lacing system for alleviating foot drop experienced by a user. A device includes a support configured to wrap around at least a portion of a lower leg of a user and a lace support attached to the support and configured to receive a lace. The device includes a reel-based fastener attached to the support, wherein the reel-based fastener comprises a reel for receiving the lace and adjusting a tautness of the lace.
Claims20
A device comprising:
- a support comprising an upper edge and a lower edge configured to wrap around at least a portion of a lower leg of a user, wherein the upper edge and the lower edge comprise a shape and a curvature approximately matching a shape and a curvature of the lower leg of the user;
- a reel-based fastener attached to a posterior portion of the support;
- a lace configured to wind through the reel-based fastener;
- and
- a lace support attached to the support and configured to receive the lace;
- wherein the reel-based fastener comprises a reel for receiving the lace and adjusting a tautness of the lace;
- wherein the support comprises a first support edge and a second support edge;
- wherein the first support edge does not come in contact with the second support edge;
- wherein the lower edge or the upper edge defines at least a portion of a counter support portion, wherein the counter support portion extends outward relative to the reel-based fastener when the device is secured to the lower leg of the user.
