Abstract
The present invention relates to barley plant or a part thereof, wherein the kernels of said barley plant have a reduced (1,3;1,4)-β-glucan content. The barley plant may carry a mutation in the CslF6 gene, wherein said mutated CslF6 gene encodes a mutant CslF6 polypeptide.

A barley plant or a part thereof, wherein the kernels of said barley plant have a reduced (1,3;1,4)-β-glucan content, and wherein said barley plant carries an induced mutation in the CslF6 gene, wherein said mutated CslF6 gene encodes a mutant CslF6 polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence according to SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:
- 3 except that said mutant CslF6 comprises a substitution of amino acid 748 of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3 to a charged amino acid, wherein the charged amino acid is selected from the group consisting of Arg, His, Lys, Asp and Glu.
