Abstract
Systems and methods are described herein for managing communications for a connected vehicle, such as between the connected vehicle and other connected vehicle and/or between the connected vehicle and infrastructure entities, such as providers of services to the connected vehicle. For example, a communication network, such as a network provided by a network carrier, may include various cloud engines or other network-based servers that manage, coordinate, and/or provision communications between the connected vehicle and other parties, such as vehicles, road devices, buildings, and other infrastructure entities.
Claims20
An apparatus operating as a network server, the apparatus comprising:
- at least one hardware processor;
- and
- at least one data storage device, coupled to the at least one processor, and storing instructions, which when executed by the at least one processor, perform operations comprising:
- wirelessly transmitting parameters associated with occurrence of an event associated with a wirelessly connected vehicle,
- wherein the parameters include information associated with the occurrence of the event related to the connected vehicle, and information identifying a context for the occurrence of the event at the connected vehicle;
- receiving information associated with one or more services to be provided in response to the occurrence of the event at the connected vehicle;
- and
- sending the information associated with the one or more services to be provided from connected infrastructure with respect to the connected vehicle,
- wherein the information identifying a context for the occurrence of the event is presented, via a display device, to a driver of the connected vehicle;
- and
- wherein the event is:
- a) associated with paying for tolls, ferries, bridges, parking, or parking or other traffic violations for the connected vehicle or the driver of the connected vehicle, or
- b) associated with a vehicle emissions metric falling below a minimum threshold, and wherein the information relates to shops capable of performing emissions testing.
At least one non-transitory medium, carrying executable instructions, which when executed by at least one data processor perform operations, comprising:
- identifying vehicles travelling on a common route with a certain vehicle, wherein the certain vehicle and the vehicles communicate with each other over a wireless communications network;
- determining that the certain vehicle is affected by an abnormal event;
- identifying a service provider capable of providing a service associated with the abnormal event for the certain vehicle associated with the abnormal event,
- wherein the service provider is located in geographic proximity to the certain vehicle associated with the abnormal event;
- and
- in response to the abnormal event at the certain vehicle, automatically sending, via the wireless communications network,
- information associated with the service,
- information regarding the service provider capable of providing the service, and
- information regarding a discount for the service,
- wherein the service offered at the service location is not related to the abnormal event.
At least one non-transitory medium, carrying executable instructions, whose contents, when executed provide services to a connected vehicle, the instructions comprising:
- in response to information from the connected vehicle that indicates an operational status of the connected vehicle, identifying one or more third party goods/service providers capable of providing goods or services to the connected vehicle based on the operational status of the connected vehicle,
- wherein identifying the one or more third party goods/service providers capable of providing goods or services to the connected vehicle includes identifying at least one of the third party goods/service providers via a subscriber database that stores information for subscribers of a wireless network;
- and
- causing information related to the identified one or more third party goods/service providers to be transmitted, over the wireless network to the connected vehicle,
- wherein the information identifies the goods or services provided by the one or more third party goods/service providers;
- and
- wherein the connected vehicle includes a display that presents the information identifying the goods or services provided by the one or more third party goods/service providers to a driver of the connected vehicle.
