Abstract
An imaging element includes: an imaging unit in which a plurality of pixel groups including a plurality of pixels that output pixel signals according to incident light are formed, and on which incident light corresponding to mutually different pieces of image information is incident; a control unit that controls, for each of the pixel groups, a period of accumulating in the plurality of pixels included in the pixel group; and a readout unit that is provided to each of the pixel groups, and reads out the pixel signals from the plurality of pixels included in the pixel group.

An image sensor comprising:
- a first pixel that (i) includes a first photoelectric conversion unit that converts, into an electrical charge, light from a first opening having a first opening area, and (ii) outputs a first signal based on the electrical charge converted by the first photoelectric conversion unit;
- a second pixel that (i) includes a second photoelectric conversion unit that converts, into an electrical charge, light from a second opening having the first opening area, and (ii) outputs a second signal based on the electrical charge converted by the second photoelectric conversion unit;
- a third pixel that (i) includes a third photoelectric conversion unit that converts, into an electrical charge, light from a third opening having a second opening area, and (ii) outputs a third signal based on the electrical charge converted by the third photoelectric conversion unit, the second opening area being smaller than the first opening area;
- a fourth pixel that (i) includes a fourth photoelectric conversion unit that converts, into an electrical charge, light from a fourth opening having the second opening area, and (ii) outputs a fourth signal based on the electrical charge converted by the fourth photoelectric conversion unit;
- a first control line that is connected to the first pixel such that a control signal for controlling the first pixel is output to the first control line;
- a second control line that is connected to the second pixel such that a control signal for controlling the second pixel is output to the second control line;
- and
- a third control line that is connected to the third pixel and to the fourth pixel such that a control signal for controlling the third pixel and the fourth pixel is output to the third control line, wherein
- the first pixel and the second pixel are arranged side by side in a row direction.
