Signaling scalability information in a parameter set

An electronic device configured for video coding, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• memory in electronic communication with the at least one processor, wherein instructions stored in the memory are executable by the at least one processor to:
• receive a first syntax set that includes information applicable to a base layer of a coded video picture of said coded video sequence;
• receive a second syntax set that includes information applicable to an enhancement layer of the coded video picture of said coded video sequence,
• wherein the first syntax set and the second syntax set include source dimension information for the base layer and the enhancement layer, respectively, the source dimension information indicating that the corresponding layer includes pictures having a mixture of frames in a two-dimensional format and a three-dimensional format;
• receive a first source scan type information indicator identifying a source scan type of the base layer;
• receive a second source scan type information indicator identifying a source scan type of the enhancement layer;
• decode the base layer based on the first source scan type information indicator and the first syntax set;
• and
• decode the enhancement layer based on the second source scan type information indicator and the second syntax set.
