Managing worksheet access

An apparatus for managing worksheet access, the apparatus comprising a computer processor, a computer memory operatively coupled to the computer processor, the computer memory having disposed within it computer program instructions that, when executed by the computer processor, cause the apparatus to carry out the steps of:

• receiving a request from a first user account to access a worksheet shared from a second user account, wherein the worksheet comprises a worksheet architecture for at least one data set from a database;
• determining that the first user account is authorized to access the worksheet architecture of the worksheet;
• determining that the first user account is authorized to access the at least one data set presented by the worksheet, including comparing an identifier of the first user account to identifiers of an authorized set of user accounts for each data source within the database and associated with the at least one data set;
• and
• granting the first user account access to the worksheet in response to determining that the first user account is authorized to access the worksheet architecture of the worksheet and determining that the first user account is authorized to access the at least one data set presented by the worksheet.

A computer program product for managing worksheet access, the computer program product disposed upon a computer readable medium, the computer program product comprising computer program instructions that, when executed, cause a computer to carry out the steps of:

• receiving a request from a first user account to access a worksheet shared from a second user account, wherein the worksheet comprises a worksheet architecture for at least one data set from a database;
• determining that the first user account is authorized to access the worksheet architecture of the worksheet;
• determining that the first user account is authorized to access the at least one data set presented by the worksheet, including comparing an identifier of the first user account to identifiers of an authorized set of user accounts for each data source within the database and associated with the at least one data set;
• and
• granting the first user account access to the worksheet in response to determining that the first user account is authorized to access the worksheet architecture of the worksheet and determining that the first user account is authorized to access the at least one data set presented by the worksheet.
