Abstract
A method of authenticating an identity document based on an extraction, by analysis of an image acquired of the identity document, of candidate information representative of the appearance of a photograph such as depicted in the acquired image and optically readable data as depicted in the acquired image.
Claims22
A method of authenticating an identity document implemented by a server and client device that are connected thereto;
- the client device comprising first processing means and the server comprising second processing means and
- the client device having first encoded data and an image acquired of an identity document representing at least a photograph of an individual and an optically readable data that are visible on said identity document, and the server having a cryptographic footprint of a first concatenation of the optically readable data of said identity document and of a first random data, called first cryptographic footprint;
- the method comprising the implementation by the first processing means of the steps of
- (b) Extraction, by analysis of an image acquired from said identity document, of:
- candidate information representative of an appearance of the photograph as depicted in the acquired image;
- the optically readable data as depicted in the acquired image;
- (c) Calculation of:
- a first decoded data by an application of a decoding process to the candidate information representative of the appearance of the photograph and to the first encoded data, such that the first decoded data corresponds to the first random data if the candidate information representative of the appearance of the photograph coincides to a reference information representative of the appearance of the photograph;
- a cryptographic footprint of a first concatenation of the extracted optically readable data and of the first decoded data;
- (d) generation of a zero-knowledge proof of the calculation of the cryptographic footprint from the first concatenation of the extracted optically readable data and of the first decoded data;
- the method comprising a step of
- (e) transmission to the server of said zero-knowledge proof of the calculated cryptographic footprint;
- and comprises
- (f) verification by the second processing means that:
- the zero-knowledge proof is valid, and
- the received cryptographic footprint coincides with the first cryptographic footprint possessed by the server.

An authentication arrangement comprising a server and a client device that are connected, characterized in that:
- The client device comprises data processing means configured for:
- Extracting, by analysis of an image acquired from an identity document representing at least a photograph of an individual and an optically readable data that are visible on said identity document:
- candidate information representative of an appearance of said photograph as depicted in the acquired image;
- said optically readable data as depicted in the acquired image;
- Calculating:
- a first decoded data by application of a decoding process to said candidate information representative of the appearance of said photograph and to the first encoded data, such that said first decoded data corresponds to a first random data if said candidate information representative of the appearance of said photograph coincides with reference information representative of the appearance of said photograph, the server having a cryptographic footprint of a first concatenation of said optically readable data from said identity document and said first random data, called first cryptographic footprint;
- a cryptographic footprint of a first concatenation of the extracted optically readable data and of the first decoded data;
- generating a zero-knowledge proof of the calculation of said cryptographic footprint from the first concatenation of the extracted optically readable data and of the first decoded data;
- transmitting to the server said zero-knowledge proof and the calculated cryptographic footprint;
- the server comprising data processing means configured for verifying that:
- the zero-knowledge proof is valid, and
- the received cryptographic footprint coincides with said first cryptographic footprint possessed by the server.
