System and method for initiating group purchases via network feeds

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions, that in response to execution by one or more hardware processors, cause the one or more hardware processors to perform operations comprising:

• in response to a selection by a first user of a first user interface element corresponding to a first item or content, storing information corresponding to the first item or content in association with an account of the first user, wherein the account corresponds to a web site or an application of a first entity;
• in response to the first user accessing a first page of the website or the application, displaying the information corresponding to the first item or content and displaying a second user interface element in association with the information;
• in response to detecting a selection of the second user interface element by the first user, creating a post in a network feed that includes the information corresponding to the first item or content, wherein the post includes a third user interface element, and wherein the third user interface element when selected by a second user, causes the second user to join or vote for the first item or content;
• and
• in response to determining that a number of users that have selected the third user interface element meets or exceeds a first threshold number of users, initiating a group purchase for the first item or content.

A method, comprising:

• in response to a selection by a first user of a first user interface element corresponding to a first item or content, storing information corresponding to the first item or content in association with an account of the first user, wherein the account corresponds to a web site or an application of a first entity;
• in response to the first user accessing a first page of the website or the application, displaying the information corresponding to the first item or content and displaying a second user interface element in association with the information;
• in response to detecting a selection of the second user interface element by the first user, creating a post in a network feed that includes the information corresponding to the first item or content, wherein the post includes a third user interface element, and wherein the third user interface element when selected by a second user, causes the second user to join or vote for the first item or content;
• and
• in response to determining that a number of users that have selected the third user interface element meets or exceeds a first threshold number of users, initiating a group purchase for the first item or content.
